Oregon truck crash, spews Gatorade over highway.

A Salem man was injured Saturday morning after driving a semitruck directly into an impact barrier between northbound traffic and an exit ramp on Interstate 5 near Albany.

Steven Howard, 58, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to a news release from Oregon State Police.

Police responded to a report of the crash around 6:50 a.m. Saturday at exit ramp 233.

Howard was driving north on I-5. It’s unclear why he hit the impact barrier.

The truck skidded and rolled onto its side in the exit lane, blocking the exit ramp and both northbound lanes, according to the release.

No other injuries were reported.

The truck was transporting Gatorade, police confirmed via email. Photos show bottles and spilled liquid strewn about the crash.

Northbound traffic was able to continue after about 45 minutes, according to the release, but cleanup is ongoing.
