Wayne Arthur wanted for sex crimes turns self in.

After 23 years as a fugitive wanted by the FBI, a man accused of sex crimes turned himself in.

Wayne Arthur Silsbee, 62, turned himself in to the Oregon City Police Department on Friday, May 10.

Silsbee is accused of sex crimes involving several young girls back in the mid-1990s. The FBI said he babysat or took the 8-10-year-old girls to events between September 1995 and April 1996 in Clackamas County.

He faces charges of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a minor and first-degree unlawful penetration in Clackamas County.

The FBI also issued a warrant for his arrest for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution but officials said that charge will likely be dropped. The Fugitive Felon Act allows federal resources to be used to find wanted felons so they can face the charges they are wanted for.

The FBI said he has lived in Springfield, Missouri, San Fransisco, Colorado, Arizona, northwestern Washingon and most recently in Nebraska.

Silsbee is due in court on Monday, May 13.
